Geraldo kicked out of Iraq by the Army for running his mouth on a live broadcast giving details of upcoming operation...developing!

I can understand you being ecstatic about that pro-Saddam traitor and general terrible bad guy Peter Arnett being fired (after all, he dared to question Our War Plans, and let's hope he suffers the appropriate 'consequences,' heh, heh) but Geraldo is a HUGE pro-War cheerleader! We NEED Geraldo to keep the American people happy and pleased with the progress of Our War!

Right on OldEdScott!! You and me love this war crap. Fox is cool because they love this war crap too! War, any war is cool. Well, maybe not the one where we loose. But this one is cool because we get to see the kids being killed and get to blame it all on that bastard Saddam, even though he used to be one our best buddies.
Why aren't those ungrateful bastards over there throwing flowers on our brave boys tanks? Aw, just shoot 'em all!!

Also, if Iraqi citizens threw flowers on our tanks, the Iraqi military would shoot them. After the towns are finally liberated, I have seen plenty of pics of people coming up and thanking the coalition soldiers. I think you've been watching a little too much of Peter Arnett.

I saw it on CNN, not as a stand-alone story, but as a bullet point on the bottom:

The U.S. military ordered Fox News Correspondent Geraldo Rivera out of Iraq after it said he violated reporting rules by divulging details of future military operations during a live broadcast, a Pentagon official said.

"If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world, but I am sure we would be getting reports from Hell before breakfast." -- William Tecumseh Sherman

Sherman thought reporters were worse than spies, because they published secrets in the newspapers.

From the report, it appears that Geraldo drew a map in the sand, showing the position of his unit. While I doubt a map in the sand is as accurate as a GPS unit, it wasn't a bright thing to do, and I understand the Army booting him.

But reporters do perform an important function in wartime. They help keep the military honest, or at least provide a counterpoint over-optimistic briefings.

I doubt there has ever been a Military press briefing that began with "Well, opposition forces really kicked our butts yesterday..."
