|My wife wants to visit Ireland this summer on a hiking tour. We've picked out a tour we like, but the price for tickets went about $300-400 each during the period while we were making up our minds. Any advice on buying cheap overseas air tickets? I've done the usual searches on Yahoo, expedia, etc. In early January, I did a search and found plenty of tickets for about $550-600 each, but now they all seem to be $900 and an up.|

|Last time I went home I booked my flights through Celtic Travel - http://www.celtictravel.com/ - and saved about $80 from San Francisco to Dublin compared to the best fares I could find on the usual travel sites that you've mentioned. It appears that timing is everything when looking for cheap fares across the Atlantic. The price quoted to me went up, and then down again in the space of 2 weeks, before I finally booked my ticket 2 weeks before travelling.
Enjoy the hiking. What part of the country are you going to?

|We're going on a walking tour in SW Ireland, around the Dingle peninsula, I believe. Would be flying in via Shannon Airport at Limerick, ideally, but would fly to Dublin if it's a lot cheaper.|| |
