|Interesting how we sympathize with the aliens because of the amazing little girl, and because the government investigators are portrayed as such nasties.|

|Been watching it and I think it is pretty good. I think the portrayal of the government agents is better done on the X Files and the actor playing the 4 star general just doesn't cut it in any way, compared to the generals that I saw way back when. So that part is weak. I will give Spielberg a star in that he is given average to below average looking actresses a chance, rather than some siliconized beauties.
What I am hoping for from the mini-series is some new idea of "why" the aliens are taking people. So, I guess for me, the entire show makes it or fails by how interesting tonights final showing is going to be. We'll see.

|It's nice to see normal looking actors, particularly those with zits. And, true to Spielberg form, he found a central child character so adorable, that you can't help but sympathize with her.
I also agree about the general. He's barely old enough to be one rank ahead of me. Likewise, I've always figured that if there are people involved in this sorta stuff, that they'd be some sort of whacko para-military/NSA spooks--just like you noted about X-files and their "blue berets."
Still, the fx have been pretty good. I thought the short B-17 sequence on episode 1 was really well done.
