I'm starting to change my mind, and want to see if anyone else's thinking is following the same path.
Gotta be dead...Wayne

I can't imagine if he were alive Al Quaeda would not have put out a conclusive picture of it yet. But as I type this, I realize if he's had plastic surgery to alter his appearance that wouldn't do much good either. It seems like to me they've tried to show that he's alive on several occasions but there's always been ways the documents or tapes coulda been forgeries, and the CIA hasn't verified any of them (or least they haven't made it public).
I like to think so.Sintesi

Just curious. If you were Bin Laden, what would the prose and con's be to either hiding and letting people wonder or revealing yourself?

Al Queda attacks of the past have been seperated by as much as years, during which time Bin Laden has travelled from place to place establishing new bases of operation.

If he is alive, he would have everything to gain by keeping quiet for now while the US is tripping over itself to provide new kernels of truth on which to base his twisted propaganda.
I think you're rightKristin

My guess would be that one of Bin Laden's primary goals in life is self preservation. He's building an empire for himself so he can be important...immortal. Funny that he teaches his followers to die for the cause.
Hadn't thought of that.czardonic

Letting people think he is dead gives his movement a kind of legitimacy by suggesting that he is willing to die for his cause, as his followers are encouraged to do.
Sadly, his spirit and what he stood for lives on. nmRoyGBiv

Either he snuck out with many others of the El Qaeda or the CIA has him quietly tucked away where he will be questioned without the rest of us knowing how he's being questioned.
