Okay my armchair generals. Most people believe war is inevitable - so when do you think it's going to happen?

Here's my timetable:

1) Invasion - Second week of January
2) War - about three months. IF all goes well.

I think the powers that be will let the War slide until Christmas is over. After last year's holiday season stores will be looking to rebound. Given the shaky economy I doubt anyone would want to risk the consumers further tightening their purse strings.

January in Iraq is when we have the best moon lit skies. Great time for the troops.

3)Occupation - About a decade. If all goes well.
Also, some analysis you may find useful. (Not mine, don't worry.)czardonic

James Fallows wrote a very informative essay on the topic of what it will take to get Iraq back on its feet after a "regime change".

A shorter version is available from the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,797760,00.html
The full version was published in The Atlantic: http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/11/fallows.htm (Their server is currently down.)

Interesting stuff, no matter which side of the war you are on.

5) Withdrawal (how? when?)
6) What if we don't capture Saddam?
