How come there is no channel 1?jose_Tex_mex

Not that I really care too much for TV, however, does anyone have a good explanation as to why there's no channel 1? I think this is true for the EU as well as the US.
Any ideas?

The original RCA system had a channel 1. But because TV eats up more spectrum than radio, channel 1 was overlapping into some VHF radio bands. In 1939 radio was far more common than TV so RCA gave channel 1 back to radio.

Radio has since moved higher up the band, so I guess they could put channel 1 back in.
Cool, I did not know that... nmjose_Tex_mex
