I re-read my list and realized there was no Dylan. I ran out to the truck and checked.....nope, no Dylan. There's usually one of his live recordings in the truck.
Great taste in music (nm)Dave Hickey

The Child-Of-The- '60s list...cory

Mine trade off, as I imagine everyone's do, but here are some current favorites:
--Sailing to Philadelphia, Mark Knopfler
--The only album by a Seattle group called Quarterflash (used to be Seafood). Can't remember the title; might be "Harden My Heart," which is one of the songs on it.
--Voodoo Lounge, Stones.
--One by Maria Muldaur, can't remember that title, either. Jacket is orange with her in a purple dress; got "Don't You Feel My Leg" on it.
--Just for fun, I'd throw in one by the Beach Boys (original, circa 1965, maybe "Little Deuce Coupe" or one I think was called "Hot Rod Summer," and possibly one early '60s folk or protest--Peter, Paul & Mary, Country Joe or maybe even the Kingston Trio.
Oh, and I forgot "Surrealistic Pillow"...cory
May 9, 2002 3:37 PM Jefferson Airplane, and "Wednesday Morning, 3 a.m." by Simon & Garfunkel.

1) The The: Soul Mining
2) Joe Jackson: Night and Day
3) Bruce Springsteen: Greetings From Asbury Park
4) Cracker: Kerosene Hat
5) The Band: Music from Big Pink

Daughter's bonus disk) The Beatles: Hard Days Night

My eight year-old daughter is starting to get into music. In an effort to direct her away from the "Boy bands" I have tried (successfully) to get her interested in the early Beatles/Beach Boys/Monkees. It seems to do the trick. (Yes I know that early Beatles could be considered a "Boy band") <>.

man, I cant imagine cycling with these tunes in my head. We need to see more 311 interspersed into these top 5 lists. It has been scientifically proven that listening to 311 regularly will improve your performance on the bike. Dont ask what scientific methods were used... I seem to have forgotten.

Marie Claire D'Ubalbo, "The Rhythm is Magic"
Chieftens, "Long Black Veil"
Brahams, "Symphony No. 2 in D Major"
Rachmaninoff "Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 3"

Some lyrics

1. THE RHYTHM IS MAGIC sung both in Spanish and English, I prefer the Spanish

Every heart beat is a miracle
Simply breathing out and breathing in
Every planet in the system, every distant star
Dances to a master rhythm, beating for all eternity

The rhythm is magic, feel it in your soul
Rhythm is a power of creation
In every living thing, the force within
The rhythm is magic, the rhythm is king

A dancer steps into the mistery
Native instinct feels the living spell
She surrenders to the power, rhythm holds the key
Spirit opens like a flower, breathing for all eternity

The rhythm is magic, feel it in your soul
Rhythm is the power of creation
In every living thing, the force within
The rhythm is magic, the rhythm is king

Daniel Lanois "Oh Marie"

Yes, my girlfriend is waiting for me,
yes, my girlfriend is waiting for me
I'm going to return with lots of money
We're picking tobacco, hostie!

Oh driver give me a chance,
oh driver give me a chance
Do you have a light for my cigarette?
We're picking tobacco, hostie!

Tonight, we're going to town,
yes, tonight, we're going to town
to sing songs, to drink booze
We're picking tobacco, hostie!

O Marie, I've got a headache,
O Marie, I've got a headache
Give us the spirit, the spirit of the body
We're picking tobacco, Marie!

The blue of the sky changed,
the blue of the sky changed
After forty days and forty nights
We can't pick tobacco

There's someone calling my name,
there's someone calling my name
We're working today, we work in the rain
We're picking tobacco
