|Seriously, I'll offer a few suggestions, although I'm not exactly typical when it comes to what women want.
-a good book and some down time to read it
-a gift certificate for a massage
-a date (dinner and a movie of her choosing)
-a weekend away by herself or with a friend
-dinner made by you and the kids

1. Godiva chocolates with Godiva hot chocolate mix (she LOVES chocolate)
2 Some cookbooks. Don't get me wrong: I'm the house cook. But together, we love entertaining and/or cooking 'special' meals. So I bought her a book on Thai cooking (Pad Thai every day!!), French cooking (plans for the trip to Provence (sp?)) and a book on Soups. Something we can do together.
3. She asked for a foot massager thing. One of those things that you fill with scented water and it massages your feet. I don't get it, but it's not for me.
Each of my three childrend will "give" a gift to Mom. As for my mother: a card and a tower of treats from Harry and David.

|My wife wanted a Bistro set for the garden, so on Sunday she'll have one. We'll enjoy having coffee there on Sunday morning looking at the garden and watching the birds on the feeder. The kids are even planning to make her breakfast.
As for my mother..... HELP.... I still have no idea and time is ticking.

|Think "overnight shipping"
Try Harryanddavid.com Lots of flowers, fruits, candies, etc...
Go to bedbathbeyond.com (or something like that) Mom's love the smelly bath stuff
If she's local...spend a day with her. Take her to lunch. Take her to dinner. Something like that.

|I will be getting my wife a simple card and a book on motherhood. But I have a major complaint about the pathetic selection of mothers day cards! Why is it nearly impossible to find a card that simply states that I think she is a wonderful mother, instead of all those other cards that say how much I love her, etc... Laugh if you will, but this year, I'm making my own card. |
From a disgruntled card buyer.
