Is this mothers day gift appropriate?(5 posts)

Is this mothers day gift appropriate?Dave Hickey

My father died 18 years ago of cancer. When I rode this years Ride for the Roses, I had a sign on my back that said "In memory of my Dad". At the finish they had photographers taking pictures. My idea for mothers day is to make a plaque with my picture at the finish and the memory sign. My wife thinks it's a great idea. I'm afraid it appears self-serving.

Did you do it to be self-serving? Will you Mom think it was self-serving, or will she see it for what it was, a tribute & a rememberance, an honoring of someone special?

Maybe include a handwritten letter outlining some of the favorite things you remember about your Dad. The most precious things I have from a deseased loved one are fond memories. This may trigger some of your Mom's memories. What a gift.

Plaque is a Great idea, IMO.

It is very appropriate, and very touching. Indicates it meant a lot!
