The Blue Ridge was very very pretty. Took MB1's advice and took our bikes. To say the least the Blue Ridge was very strenuous exercise. Coming from Florida, the mountains were a treat.

Why didn't you invite us along? How was the weather for a Florida boy? How was traffic? Tell all....

When we left Florida it was 85 F, when we first rode it was 29F and raining. To say the least, it was cold for a Florida boy. The traffic was slight because it was early in the year. Uphills were very hard, they were very, very long. However, on downhills you found yourself praying that you would not get a flat and go over the side. You easily went 50+ mph on downhills. A 60+ mile ride was very hard because of the hills (not used to them in Florida). I look forward to our favorite hill in Florida because it will appear flat now. It was beautiful!!! Rode at 2000 to 3000 elevations the majority of the time. Humidity? what humidity. It was a great experience. Would have invited you if I knew you would come! All in all we rode about 250 miles.

Yea. I'd agree on the long climbs, fast descents, and strenuous exercise-both the Blue Ridge and the Appalachians! I live here. It's beautiful country and great riding I agree. One 50 mile ride in the mountains will get you in shape guaranteed ;)

I rode 60 miles which I though would be a moderate ride. Boy, was I wrong. I thought I was going to die. A 30 mile ride for a newbie would have been the ticket. But, it was beautiful!!!
