I am a gun owner, sport shooter and hunter and own several shotguns and rifles. I believe in a persons right to defend their life, but doing that in Canada would likely get you a life sentence.

My wife worked with a guy years ago that beat the hell out of an intruder in the middle of the night. After subduing the guy he called the cops and told the guy not to move(or else) and held him till the cops showed up.The intruder was arrested and charged but the victim was also arrested and charged with assault,forcible confinement and threatening death.

Unfortunately she left her job shortly after and we never found out how it ended. I would hope the charges were dropped or he was found not guilty at trial.

I'll take the American system over that mess any day.
