|The Bin Laden tape: What are the chances...||American Cyclist|

|...That this tape is a hoax? Possibly produced by the CIA to rally additional support of Arab/Islamic moderates. I believe todays modern digital imaging could make this possible.
Why would Bin Laden allow himself to be taped where he is implicating himself? It actually looks as though this taping was done without Osama and friends knowing it...by someone who likes to live VERY dangerously.
Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen?

|but I thought the same thing. I still believe it is probably legit, but that tape is almost too good to be true. If some people think the moon landing was a hoax, they are gonna have a field day with this one...|

|I have to agree guys. I am as ready to get this guy as anyone, but either this was done without him knowing it, or it is made up. It just seems kind of strange that we "found" this videotape in "an abandoned house" in Afghanistan.
On a more serious note, today a woman was arrested for bringing her sewing kit on board a plane. They said she is suspected of trying to "knit an Afghan".

|And they haven't made anything near this level of sophistication. I can't believe something this good was made out of whole cloth in a few months. I'll bet it was casually video taped in an informal setting to document the meeting of these two. Somebody made a copy that he wasn't supposed to and it got lost in the chaos and there you go. Much more plausible than a fantastical hoax that requires a secret kept amongst a great many people.|

|Don't you recognize the voice dubs by Jim Carrey and Tom Hanks. Why do you think our Vice President went to Hollywood to seek their help in the fight against terror?|

|One reason this tape is suspect, is because previously the government has tried to restrict the media from broadcasting Bin Laden tapes. So we've been conditioned to think we are being manipulated by the government, and therefore don't trust it. Trying to control information flow, censoring tapes, etc., will make people mis-trust your motives and not believe you.|

|if this is true, it is interesting that they can get close enough to video him but not to kill him. Or maybe the video is worth more than his body...

|I too had some doubts. However, I saw the following explanation which sounds plausible.
The fella UBL was speaking too was a radical Saudi(?)cleric. One commentator suggested that the meeting was being videotaped for purposes of propaganda so that the second fellow could return to Saudi (?) with the tape and use it to recruit new members to the terrorist network, or to raise additional money.
As to how or why it was left behind? Who knows. Maybe the location wasn't as safe as they thought it was and it got hot there in a hurry.
