I'm restoring an old Schwinn American that was my dad's when he was a kid. I'm looking for recommendations for someone to glass-bead blast the frame before it's painted or powdercoated, preferably in the Delaware/Philadelphia area. The frame weighs quite a bit and shipping it would bankrupt me. Any advice would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Just look in the yellow pages, and then ask if they have done many bikes. An old heavy frame like that will stand up to sandblasting without a problem. I'm not sure if they use glass beads, but the outfit I used called it "media blast". It was not sand and was intended for the fragile tubesets of modern bikes.
