|Question for the ladies among us...||Marlon|

|I haven't been to the forums for a while - mostly because I found a girl who bikes. She's smart, witty, charming, has a smile that would light up a room... and most importantly, she bikes. She bikes! Alas, she's a mountain biker, and a serious one at that. She's the only girl I've gone out with whom I need to wear body armour to be around with (our last outing together was in B.C.'s North Shore).
So, the question: what to get for her birthday? We've only been going out a short time, and she's excited about trying road biking for a while, so I was thinking about buying something bike oriented. What do ladies who bike want? Beats me. All I know is that she's a keeper and I want to do things right.
thanks! - Marlon

|I'm no woman, but all the women I ride with complain that it is hard to find jerseys and such that look good and fit well. It's a big deal for them.
Best bet is to ask her what does she like of the clothing she owns and try to find more of it. Good luck with that Mr. Man! Easier said than done.

|If she's already loaded with cool and unique jerseys, how about a gift certificate for a massage after your first long road bike ride. She'll probably need it after being in a position she's not used to for a while.|

|Inexpensive and romantic! Just kidding. Get her the real thing. :-)|

|Offer to give her the massage yourself! Of course, you'll need some almond oil and she'll need to be completely naked.
Then, work on that "position she's not used to for a while" with her.

|I agree with Mr Spin : nice cycling clothes seem the best bet. But try to find some you would like to see her in !
Have a look at Italian ones - some are gorgeous - and I suppose she'll enjoy the change from mountain biking clothes.
..or why not get a bike for her ? That's how my husband trapped me into road cycling...I can tell you it works wonders..!

|Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. We missed you, BTW.
FWIW, I drove my boyfriend (then a starving student) to a stage race 6 years ago. We've been inseperable ever since.
I always appreciated new bike parts more than clothes, although the recommendation of the nice Italian stuff was a good one. Probably the safest bet is a gift certificate to her favorite LBS.
Good luck! LFR

|1. I love the massage idea! Professional or lascivious, though I'd prefer to get the professional one.
2. Gift cert. for a road bike fitting?
3. Nothing says "I love you and don't want you to get run over" like lighting equipment.

|I'll see how this whole birthday thing goes, but many thanks for the suggestions - I think a combo of a few things might be in order, heh:)
It's good to be back regularily reading RBR.com. It's quite the online community that's going on here, and amazingly tight-knit too. Once I get my scanner, I'll post some ride adventures stories and pics from riding in the Great White North of the 49th.

|What to get her? Based on all the women I know fitting that description, I'd say that what she really wants is:
