|Now that 2004 stuff is rolling in, who has seen any good blowouts of 2003 DA? In particular, I am looking for new STI shifters. Tks.|

|Performance bike has them on sale, I purchased 2 sets of STI shifters, 1 rear cassette, one chain, one front and one rear der. for under $450.00 and that included a 20% off coupon and shipping.|

Dude, haven't you learned, yet? Performance always has a ton of stuff on "sale". If you compare their "sale" price to others - Excel Sports or Colorado Cyclist for example - you'll find that their non-sale prices are often the same as Performances' "sale" price. That's their gimmick to hook you. They have a price marked out in red and "sale" beside the new price although it's very often not cheaper than their other main competitors.
That's one reason I don't deal with them. Think it's a dishonest way of doing business.

|While I generally agree with your comment, once in a while Performance puts on a "real" sale that beats the others. For example, they had a sale on selected 7700 series Dura Ace parts receintly: Crank - $155, front derailleur and bottom bracket - $32, rear derailleur - $55. Prices only lasted a few days then went back up. I assume they wanted to reduce inventory for the 10 speed stuff. At any rate, they're worth watching.

|we got a great deal on new bikes from bikesdirect - and we know another couple that has saved a ton on new bikes on ebay. One guy in our group got a bike online from supergo -- everyone's savings are fantastic.
I bet that soon brand new bikes with DuraAce will be selling online for $1500 to $1800 -- that is what my husband thinks away.
so I think anyone who waits will get a great deal on new stuff - why buy old?
|Wrong! _Wholesale_ on 2004 Dura-Ace 40% more than 2003!!!||BergMann|

|The best going prices on 2003 Dura Ace are generally in the range of 5-10% over wholesale.
You will _never_ get 2004 Dura Ace as cheap as 2003, because no one is going to sell it for less than they bought it for!
Even assuming prices come down to razor-thin margins at some point in the next year, you'll be hard pressed to find a full group with hubs for less than $1100-1200.
Wake up and smell the coffee folks: Dura Ace is now as expensive as Record!!!
|so, now we should say "Durachee" (nm)||weiwentg|

|If you are looking for a good price in Shimano parts go to comparisonpricing and get the lowest price and website, check that they have it in stock and then place your order with performance or nashbar, they will match those prices. Once done placing order, tell them that you have a 10% or 20% coupon depending the company and they will deduct another 10% or 20% to your order only not shipping. I have built 4 bikes this year for me and friends and we save a bundle every time. And if you really want to save more join the Performance club for $20 for one year and all regular oreders are shipped 2nd day and for every dollar spent you get one point (equals to .10 cents) but when you have 2000 points you can built another bike at halprice plus discounts!!!!! Just my two cents! In a year or two we will be able to do the same with D/A 10.|

|Do you need an actual coupon number to get 20% off with Performance, or do they just give the 20% off if you say you have a coupon for 20% off from Performance or another company?

|Yes you do, they will ask you for the number and expiration. You can usually find these in the outdoors magazines or if some one post them here in this board. Good luck. Usually the number looks like that this 6000332|| |
