I'm not typically a great shopper, but I built this bike pretty reasonably. Lets see what you think:

Frame: GT frame and fork @ www.chucksbikes for $275
Headset: WTB (had it from another bike)
Stem: Bontrager Race @ LBS for $25
Pedals: Speedplay X3 @ Performance for $79 (not a huge fan)
Bar: ITM 260 for $30
Wheels: Ultegra w/ Mavic Open Pro 14/15 DB @ www.jensonusa.com for $175
Crank: Ultegra @ Performance for $90
Bottom Bracket: Ultegra @ Performance for $25
Shifters: Ultegra @ Performance for $160
Brakes: 105 @ Chucks Bikes for $35
Cassette: Ultegra @ Performance for $35
Chain: Shimano HG92 @ Performance for $15
Rear Derailleur: 105 @ Performance for $25
Front Derailleur: Ultegra @ Performance for $25
Tires: Michellin @ Chucks Bikes for $14 a piece
Seatpost: Titec 235 @ Titec for $10
Seat: WTB @ LBS for $39 Love my WTB seats
Tape: $5
Shipping: Probably $40

I probably missed something, but you get the point. This bike was really fun to build. I went to www.comparisonpricing.com and had Performance price match the parts I could (I got 10% back in dividends). I have roughly $1,200.00 into the bike. Not bad.

The bike is really nice. I have been pleased. I'm a mountain biker at heart, but use this bike for training. I would have only gotten Dura Ace shifters if I had to do it again. It was fun learning how to build a road bike. Thanks for looking.
