|In my experience exchange rates can vary by specific CC bank. They usually don't charge an exchange rate fee, but you usually don't get the very best rate. I would say that it always costs a bit more than I expect (than compared with an exchange rate calculator).
Also, some transactions have taken months to post on my accounts. This is based on both international travel, and international online orders.
Also, while you don't pay VAT on the product, you won't get a break on the shipping.

|than any other option you have (they take care of the currency exchage automatically). I've found that if you go to a currency exchange place, their rates will be less favorable than what your CC company offers.
When you check the currency converters, they usually list the rates that are more favorable than the average Joe can get, including the CC companies. I don't claim to know why; I guess it's something like trying to get a home loan at the prime rate...
