Need to replace my aging DA 8 speed chainrings, cassette and chain. I'm not tied to going full DA again... really just trying to get the job done for somewhere in the neighborhood of $80 shipped.

Any thoughts?

but some, myself included, have had problems with them. they're not dishonest, but they are not particularly competent. my order is still messed up - they left my shifters and stem out of a groupset order.

He is right. Abici is on the west coast but the parts are shipped from an east coast supplier and it seems the communication between them is lacking. They will eventually get it right but you have to hound them.

sorry for the TV flashback, but the warning is real. These guys are incompetent boneheads, and although they usually, eventually, do make good, they don't always-I am still waiting for my simple order to be completed FIVE months after the original order and charging of my credit card.

There are reputable dealers out there, and I would go there.

I don't want a whole new crankset, etc. Just trying to keep my aging bike going for another year or two till I can afford something a little fancier. Specifically, I'm looking for:

big ring
small ring
chain
cassette (8 speed)

Takes a little longer, but I'm coming up with some good deals so far.

Search "Dura Ace", "cassette", "chain", and "chainring". Might get some goodies.
shipping kills ya...shawndoggy

even with great deals, it looks like I'd pay $20 in shipping on e-bay ($5 X 4 parts), vs. 6-8 from a mailorder shop for everything.

Hopefully you are still checking this post,
I just did an eight speed upgrade from Excel. They had chainrings from Race Face which are perfect for the job - the 2 cost $35. I got a HG Chain, DA casette, and new bolts all for nearly $100.
