I need a tough set of wheels (or just the rims). What's available for cheap? Weight isn't so much of an issue. Just the ability to withstand the hits and last a long time (my current ones are 10 years + and I'm hoping to make the next set last at least that long...

i have over 1800 miles on a set of formula "xero" wheels from supergo. They are inexpensive and tough. I live in Michigan where they just seem to have a fetish for road salt, so many of the roads are almost even too scary for bigfoot. I've trued the rear once.... good luck.

Mavic MA3 is a tough and cheap rim. If you have an 8 or 9 speed, you can get MA3 laced to 105 hubs for $115 at Jenson USA. That is a pretty goods deal for a hand built wheel set. I have not ridden their wheels though so I cannot attest to the quality of their builds.

Good Luck!!!!

I think I'm going to build up my own wheels though. Shouldn't be much more expensive than the Jenson deal and I want to learn how to do it myself. I'm a perfectionist (spell that A-N-A-L) so I'm hoping they will turn out solid. Thanks for all the input!
