Best deal on Giro Pneumo or Bell Phi Pro?niednagl

I'm looking for a Giro Pneumo (size M, color carbon/black) or a Bell Phi Pro (last year's silver color would be nice).

Does anyone know where the good deals are?

Until recently, at least, both pricepoint.com and performancebike.com had last year's model of the bell phi pro on sale. Even at retail prices ($70-80), the phi pro is a pretty good deal, though -- much more so than the pneumo. The best prices I've seen on current year pneumos is about $130, and perhaps $10-20 cheaper for last year's models, but selection is limited. If you don't want to spend a bundle on a nice helmet, check out the Louis Garneau Globe -- which is a very nice helmet and sells from $35-50 at performance. I bought a Globe because it fits me much better than the pneumo and I couldn't justify spending $80 more for a helmet that didn't fit right.

i was looking for pneumo deals 1 month ago and someone here told me there was a sale at www.schwabcycles.com . they might still have a clearance.

check out bestbikebuys.com and search for any product you want : "pneumo" for ex. they'll give you the latest prices at the big name stores like performance.com, nashbar.com, coloradocyclist.com

ultimately, i paid $99 for a Giro Boreas at performance.com. it was, in fact, the helmet mr. lance wore before the pneumo. was once the highest model on the market for $160. it fits great and from top view, almost looks exactly like the pneumo. one difference is that the back strap is roc-loc 3 (the pneumo is rocloc4) if your interested, here's a deal on Boreas from Gear-West:

last I checked, GearLink.com was listing a lot of Pneumos on eBay. My partner and I both got ours that way, having discerned that the reserve was $119. I even bid on one that wasn't the color I wanted, and then emailed them and said "can I have a yellow one?" and Voila! Yellow Pneumo for $119.

That was a couple of months back... don't know what's shaken' now but I've bought several things from GearLink on eBay (seatpost, gloves, carbon bars, and aerobars) all with good experiences.

I've been on Ebay. There's an outfit called "yourbikesource" selling Rabobank colors for $95.
I'm picky though -- part of the reason for a new helmet is optics, and I'm only interested in gray, silver or black. Besides, I've emailed them and they're too stupid to answer sizing/color questions.

THanks for the GearLink tip though, I'll email them and see if they have the size/color I want.

Great guy who is local to me so I get to stop by and pick up my stuff personally.

He runs a nice operation and is very knowledgeable.

When I was looking for a new I too checked around thoroughly. Firstly, the great deals found on Pneumos at various online shops were very limited in size and color. None were my size (s/m) in the color I wanted (white). I too checked out Ebay and even bidded on one. I believe it went for $127.50 or $130 plus $10 shipping. This thing was not absolutely brand new, unworn in box either. I don't think you'll find any place discounting 2002 models especially in the carbon color. That was not available last year. The deals you'll find now are the remaining 2001 models hanging around.

If you're a member of any club you'll likely have local shop discounts. Mine is 20%. It came out to $130 or so. I couldn't find any better deal and spent quite a bit of time on it. I personally, don't buy on Ebay used to save only a few bucks. I'd rather get store guarantees, warranties, etc. on things like this. Heck if the thing doesn't protect my head in a crash, I want to be able to file suit against them!
