|Does anyone know the reason why Trek discontinued their aluminum touring bike? Is the ride substantially stiffer than the 520? Were there insufficient sales to justify?

|I have a 540 and love it. One of the big reasons that I bought it in the first place was its' compliant ride, definatly not stiff. When I asked about the discontinuance of the 540, I was told that the lack of sales and the cost of building the bike. The frame was made by Klein in Chehalis Washington. I have to give Trek credit for trying to sell bikes that aren't exactly mainstream; the 540, the Y-Foil and the R200 recumbent.|| |
