Best Helmet: Giro Boreas?Bill RHIT
Jul 16, 2001 8:01 AM
Hi,

I typically ride about 40-50 miles a day for 4-5 days a week and I am looking to buy a new helmet as my old one is causing me to sweat to much in the heat. Does anyone know of the best deal of a Giro Boreas of posibly a Pneumo. Anyone have any opinions? Are these the helmets I should be considering? Thanks.

You may want to check out performance.com. Latest Performance catalogue has limited sizes and colors on sale. I just received the Pneumo for father's day as a gift (already have a Boreas). From what my wife tells me, no discounts available yet (too new or in demand). Good luck.

p.s. there are other well ventilated helmets as well (I do like the Pneumo though). Look around.

Two Wheel Transit (http://www.twowheeltransit.com) has a blowout on last year's Boreas happening, also on Eclipses and other. Good deals, and I'm happy with their service.

Here here! Thanks! I just ordered mine a minute ago. Awesome price.

Mini rant here, people in the classifieds are trying to dump their used Boreas's for $70-$80. Some of the prices over there are just absurd. People trying to sell used stuff for 80% to 90% of the price they paid. I put up some used stuff in great condition for fair prices at 50% or lower of new cost and it all sold immediately.
Research their warranty and replacement policyixiz

Giro has the worst replacement policy and since you use it often i recommend something with a better replacement policy.

BELL EVO is at a discount for less than $40 (used to cost $110)

I recently ordered a $79.99 Boreas from Two Wheel Transit, but also found a $69.99 US Postal model on sale via the "helmets" section on the following website:

http://www.labicicletta.com/

They only have S/M (which fits most noggins) and in limited supply - they still had them in stock when I called to verify last week.

Also, check out the great prices on the new Cateye OS computers ($39).
