|Unless you want $300 Polar w/ download charts, they are all the same.
After serious riding, you will break it or the battery connections go.
Supergo HR/cyclometer - $29
Nashbar basic $33
Circuit 7 @Ebay $49
Polar 710 $290 - bells & whistles.

|I don't know about which is the best HRM, but I thought I got a pretty good deal from www.wellquest.com on my Reebok HRM. They definitely had the most choices in brand/models that I could find.
P.S. If you don't live near CA, don't do ground shipping from them or you'll wait a LONG time. Spend the extra $ for better shipping.

|I have a very basic Polar. Has HR, clock, and upper/lower threshold numbers with a beep when you vioate either one. Cost me about $100. I've had it for three or four years without any problems. Get a Polar. Why?? If you need a part, they are readily available. Also, if there is something wrong, they will be around to fix it.
As for deals...check out overseas dealers like Sdeal.com or Totalcycling.com

|Well, if you're looking for Polar's, there are a few sites that come up if you simply do a Polar monitor search that have decent deals. I've not found a place that offers them at $100 below list, which is perfectly understandable when the top of the line without some of the accessories is ~$300.
I use a Polar now, the most basic of all. I just started checking into the high end S series. Man, a true training aid if you go all the way. I'm simply looking at the S510 right now. The best deal I've found is $239, no tax, minimal shipping.

|The best place that I have found on the web is at www.elitebicycle.com. They sell the mid and high-end Polars for the best price that I have found. I just recently received my S510 from them and can't believe the features that this HRM has. It is certainly a big upgrade from my old Accurex II. Also, Elite Bicycle has a live chat room where you can communicate with one of their representatives who will answer your questions about Polar HRMs. I used their chat room service to realize that the S510 was the HRM I was looking for. Definitely any HRM will assist you with your exercise goals. Good luck with your choice.|| |
