I recieved an email from a guy at globe auto riders @hotmail.com. Does anyone know anything about them regarding their authenticity. this is a copy of his reply to me:

"hello,

for it,as for the shipping aspect i will make arrangement on how it will be picked up from your location, if my offer is accepted kindly get back to me
with full details and current bike condition.

upon my response this email was sent:

"hello and thanks for the mail,i will like you to knidly get back to me with pictures to verify more clearly, also payment of the bike will be in cashier's cheque,if acceptable get back to me with the following

Sounds like the real deal to me. It seems that a COD will prevent any rip-off from occurring, or am I naive?

Thanks for any help.

RYAN,

Be careful, I got the EXACT same email on my Jamis Komodo that I have for sale on MTBR.com. I sent an email to this guy asking for his full name and a phone number that I can call to talk to him. If it's for real, he'll have no problem giving me that info. If I talk to him, I'll drop a note here.

There are many "companies" that issue very good counterfeit cashiers checks, for more than the sale amount, and then ask you to send the difference to them via Western Union or MoneyGram. If this turns out to be the case, RUN AWAY!

If the cashiers check is sent from Africa or Europe, most likely it is phony. My picture shows seven cashiers checks I've received, totaling $34,100.00, and not worth the paper they are printed on.

Also the broken English is a red flag for me.

Hey, I got the identical message this morning on my Kona Roast will a full price offer. Offer said arrangements would be made to pick up the bike at my location. Anyone had a response from this guy? This thing smells like month old fish guts.

I replied to the guy asking about some of his information, just to be careful. I let him know there seemed to be a lot of scams going on right now. Not suprisingly, I haven't heard back. I almost sent him all the information...very glad I didn't. Any DHer in need of a good DH bike for 1250.00 (2000 Giant DH Team)?

Thanks all!

Thanks for the heads up! The email just smelled funny. Glad the DHers are on the job. Will pass the word on the Giant. Great bike. Good luck and thanks.
