Easton EM90 Stem....(4 posts)

Easton EM90 Stem....asphalt assault
Jan 29, 2004 7:16 AM
I'm seeing a lot of EM90 stems on ebay lately and am just wondering if there's something undesirable about a magnesium stem. I haven't seen too many of the stem that I REALLY want...Easton EA70 110mm...on ebay and they usually go for top $$$ or sombody scarfs them up before I do (grrr). All of the online retailers I'v seen that carry the EA70 have them listed at MSRP ($79).

Sigh...looks like I'm going to wind up paying MSRP for this one...I hate when that happens:/

While we're on the subject...is there any problem with using a 1 1/8" stem on a 1" carbon steerer (with shim)?

I have been running the ITM mag. stem with a shim on my old bike which had a 1" steerer tube with no problems. I would check with Easton or your LBS to make sure that the shim you use is recommended for that stem.

The Easton stem I plan to buy comes with the shim to reduce for use with a 1" steerer. I was just wondering if there was a problem using a shimmed stem on a CARBON steerer.

Thanks!

I have an EM90, so far no problems. It is rather gaudy but just happens to match my paint scheme.
