Have any of you experianced this problem and if so how long before the damn thing heals?? I did the damage 2 weeks ago and it is still bruised and sensitive to pressure. The swelling is almost gone but I havn't been on the bike since it happend. This is ANNOYING!

Or is it possible I am being a big pussy? Should I gut it out and go? Please respond because I can feel my 36 year old body turning to jelly as we speak!
Maybe it's broken. Get Xrayed (nm)spluti

You can do the simple (but not exactly conclusive) home test, but I would get it X-rayed and maybe even an MRI to look for ligament damage if your insurance covers it.

The home test is to tap on your finger tips of the bad hand. If you feel pain shooting thru your wrist and into your forearm, you broke it. Keep in mind, that's a rule of thumb type test... it's not 100% accurate, but if you fail that test and it hurts like heck, you pretty much know you need to see someone about it.

But like I said, if you have insurance, get the X-Ray and MRI done.

Did that about 5 seasons ago going down on the bike (a FOOSH-type injury). I got a stiff brace and rode again within about a week but had to keep the wrist straightened so it wasn't exactly a normal riding position (no wrist flex).

Get something to stabilize the wrist (assuming, as others noted, that you are sure it is not broken) and go ride.
Dude.. get that checked out by a doc ASAP!Fender

Several years ago I crashed while returning home from the LBS. I was carrying two wheels in my hand when somehow the wheels went between the front wheel and the fork and I went down. I never went to the doctor and several years later I'm still having problems. I had major damage to a ligament and now, almost any minor incident will cause it to flare up and swell. The word "surgery" has been tossed around several times between my doctor and I, and so far it has not been a medical need, but that might change in the future. My wrist now consistently cracks, and every so often, a ligament will move out of place and I need to snap it back. Not fun! Next time I crash (hopefully not soon), I might not be so lucky.

BTW - this happened when I was 19. I'm now 23.

back in October on a one week tour, first day. I gutted it out and rode another 400 miles. After 5 weeks the thing still was sore and not seeming to get any better. Went for an xray and it was broken in 2 places. At that point the Doc said too late to do anything now, expect it to be healed fully in 2 to 3 months. I still get twinges of pain from certain twisting motions. Doc said basically I was 5 weeks ahead of therapy schedule, he should give me a refund on the appointment.
