Finally got my parts onto the new Vortex frame and took it for it's first outing today. I couldn't be more pleased with the ride quality and down right great looks. It comes in at 16+ pounds. I think I'll keep her.

If this is like other LS threads all hell will break loose. Nce ride. I ride a 2002 Vortex which is the one before the bladed downtube. I prefer the old round look, but I am sure the new one rides great. I find mine stiff enough, but LS is always manipulating its tubes. I have black decals which I prefer to yellow, but the white is looking sweet as well.
Very nice...seyboro

...and curiously, not only do I run a very similar setup, but also own the exact same garage door. Hmmmmmmmm.

stem. Just kidding -- I have a "the" stem also and it's quite nice. Just use a torque wrench on it (responsibly). Nice ride!

Hello, I'm new at road riding and was wondering about your tires on your bike. I really like the black spokes and was wondering if you have all the specs on your wheels? I would like to get some similar or exatly like yours. Bike look very cool..... Justin

If you like the blacked out look, take a look at the Campy Eurus wheels. Very light and trouble free plus lighter and less expensive than the Mavic's.
Juan, that is one sweet-looking ride!BowWow

And it looks to be just my size! I really like the looks of the eurus wheelset - how do they handle? are they too stiff/just right/too noodly? how about cornering or sprinting? and I'm really diggin' the bottle cages - what are they?

Thanks for makin' the drool dribble!

Size is a 59. The Eurus handle great, as far as stiffness goes, the handle as well as my 32 spoke Mavic Open Pro laced to Record hubs. They corner great and I've had them over 52 mph on a descent and they track very well. The response is instant from any input to the bike. The bottle cages are BTP's from Mike Garcia at oddsandendos. 26 grams for the pair, including mounting hardware and the hold the bottle very firmly. The cage acts as a spring to hold the bottle. In 6 months of use, I have yet to loose a bottle.
no cracked stem here but....divve

....just wondering about the position of your Ergopowers. They appear to be mounted slightly sloping downward. Doesn't that cause your hands to slide forward and pressure between the webbing of your thumb and index finger?

Nice frame BTW. I was contemplating getting one myself as well.
agree with that...C-40

The ergo levers are mounted too low. Moving them up to a level or very slight upward angle will make a smooth transistion onto the top of the bar and should be much more comfortable.

Hi mate,

Love your bike, was already planning exactly the same bike! Love the Vortex, was afraid it might be a little stiff for longer rides because of the type of Ti. Kinda defeats the purpose of going Ti, might as well stick to an Alu frame? So how does it actually ride? Can a bike actually be stiff and soft at the same time?

One thing I would have changed though would be a silver aliante instead of the black...... other than that, again, your bike ROCKS!!!

Buffedupboy,
Thanks for the comments. To answer your question, it soaks up the rough roads and still is plenty stiff when I sprint or climb. If you get a chance to test ride one, do so, I highly recommend this frame. As far as the positon of the levers, I've noticed no problems, but I've been riding this type of position for awhile now. The tires are Conti's Attack and Force combo, and they work well for racing tires, but I wouldn't use them for everyday rides, the rims are 2002 Ksyrium SSC SL.
