I have a couple sets of bibs from last year that are starting to get a little thin around the stitching next to the chamois in the rear and was thinking you could probably trim out this bad material and stitch it back up since lycra is so flexible. Has anyone ever had this done? I would guess a local seamstress could do this type of work or is there someone online who specializes in this? I did a google search for cycling short repair and found nothing related.

Had exactly the same problem with a couple pairs of shorts, one a really nice pair of Castellis.

I took some old cottonworkout shorts - mid-weight material - and had my drycleaner, who has always done my clothing repairs, sew sections of the cut-up material over the edge of the pad where the stitching was failing.

I have been riding them since mid summer last year - can't tell any difference, visibly or by "feel".
