Newbie to the board tire question.....Wayne-o

I recently expanded my bike interest from mt biking to include a road bike (an '02 trek 5200..) it came with michelin axial pro tires 700 x 25 in size. a couple of questions, what is the difference between the 23 vs 25 on tires. another question is are these any good relatively speaking, or better yet, what are your picks and why?

25 is of course a bit wider, meaning they will have slightly more rolling friction but they will ride slightly more cushy...if you are a big person, that is goodness, even if you arent big, 25 is not a GIANT tire, use it til it wears out then get a 23 IMHO...and yes, axial pros are high quality tires.

axial pros are a bit fragile for my tastes. Unless you're racing them I'd go to a Michelin carbon or a kevlar tire.

I've ridden 25s and 23s. I prefer the 23s. They seem faster, but that's probably psychological. The ride feels stiffer and quicker, but again that's subjectivity.
