|just watching the DVD of last year's vuelta for the first time last night. figured it was his larger frames or the deep-dish carbon wheels next to the other bikes, but i'm pretty sure now that he was riding 650c wheels in the mountains.
can anyone confirm this? aside from the obvious gearing advantage to smaller wheels (on the road), what other reasons behind 650c wheels could possibly justify their use by ONCE?

|Lighter weight for climbing, these are climbing bikes only. Manolo Saiz (Director) is a technogeek. Jalabert also rode a 650c climbing bike when he was with ONCE and when he switched to CSC he had a custom LOOK 650c made.|
