USPS riders prepare for "fugures" competition ...Akirasho

... under UCI's new rules for '04 in Division I.

Even though it's been dropped from competitive figure skating, the UCI has decided to introduce a cycling form of "figures" competition. Here, we see USPS riders led by Viacheslav Ekimov practicing at their new state of the art figures practice arena in Salinas, California.

Salinas, made famous by John Steinbeck, is about 200 miles north. Solvang is a quaint (read: tourist trap) little fake Danish town. Very different places!
