syntace c2 aerobar and oversize stem... what to do?ming_chang_tsai

Hi,

I have a syntace c2 aerobar that doesn't fit a giant tcr composite road bike, what could I do?

the syntace c2 only fits 24-29mm diameter handle bar, and giant handle bar is about 31mm.

any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Take the bar to a machine shop.bimini

It might cost more than the bar to have the clamps openned up to accept the 31 mm bar but trying to open it up with hand tools or putting it on as is could cause serious problems. I'm assuming the Giant bar is either thin tubing or carbon. If the clamp is not perfectly round you will get pressure points that could cause the handlebar to fail.

You may be better off selling the Syntace on ebay and buy a new bar that fits the handlebars.

There is a Syntace Armrest Adapter Kit listed at www.tri-zone.com that says it allows any Syntace aerobar to fit 31.8 mm base bars for $16.95
