Just got new cranksets on both my winter road and MTN bike this week.I was hoping to get out this weekend to try them out.Would'nt you know it.An ice storm hits in Northern Illinois.I would have been out in the snow or cold but not ice.I know you guys on the East have had a bad time of it this Winter but I just needed to vent. All in all we've been pretty lucky here in the Chicago area. Thanks for listening.

Last weekend I finally figured out the right combination of riding clothes to keep warm when the temp is in the 30-40 degree range. Had a great ride from Evanston up to Highland Park and back last Sunday. I was hoping to do it again this weekend. Rats!!! Well only 6 weeks until march.

I'm just about done with the Kogswell--all that's left is wrapping the bars, and today promised to be in the low 30s...then we got ice. My wife can't even get the car back up the driveway, so...soon, a finished bike photo, but the ride report will have to wait.
Looking forward to a report (nm)PEDDLFOOT

Thank goodness our mayor has learned from history and keeps the streets salted. This being said the salt realy does a number on ANY frame material and component. It will get into cables and corrode them from the inside, break down lubes and grease, and attack all the plastic surfaces... Just make sure you really clean the bike and keep it lubed at least once a week in the winter. I had to learn this the hard way- thanks Mr. Daley!!

Yeah, we had ice down here (Normal) about 10 days ago and one rider rode where she should have walked. She was lucky and only bruised a hip and ego. I went back a couple days after and took a pic and then doctored it a bit for our email chain and newsletter.
