|Weather panic in DC!!! TV hypes cold...||Djudd|

|It's January in DC and cold. However, television folk think it should be 70 degrees and panic the public because it is not.
Last week Saturday I got up at 5am put on my woolies and headed out for a 50 miler with some friends. It was cold but not unbearable. When I got home my kids told me the tv news was warning people not to go outside unless necessary because of the "extreme cold". What is going on here? It is winter it is supposed to be cold. Put on the proper clothes and live your life. If it rains one will get wet, if it is real cold one gets cold, this has been the story for all time. Weather has never stopped the track of civilization until now ("don't invent the wheel it's too damn cold")I hate to sound like my grandfather here but when I was a kid my parents wrapped us up and sent us out to play all winter long, no problem. I think I am going to blow up that tv.

|During one trip last year, it rained and all the local stations dispatched camera crews all over the city. I was amazed...........|

|...since the weather keeps so many criminals indoors, and the stations have to put
on; in this part of the world, rain actually is news.

|They send out our "intrepid reporters" to every corner of the city to see the rain.
I grew up in the Northeast so rain isn't really a big deal to me...to see it as a top story for the night cracks me up.
They have too much time and not enough news to go around. I don't really like to watch it because it consists of recounting horrible accidents, shootings, robberies, abuse then "the rain!".
Oh well, TV does have an off switch...

|they call it a storm. I guess they figure when they call it a storm its more likely that people will tune in to the weather. Its all a way to sell more advertising.|| |
