|Question to KG486 owners||6was9|

|This is the question I posted on Look Forum. I figure I'll get the answer here quicker so here it is:
"I just received my new KG486 frame and noticed a small hump (15mm diameter,) with a tiny irregular shape hole on the top, right on the curve where seat tube and the right side chain stay meets on top side of the bottom bracket shell mass. It doesn't seem to belong there and looks odd.
Does it belong there?
From looking at all the side profile and other various pictures of the frame doesn't show the hump which is visible on mine."
I received the frame from Total today.

|Pack it back up and send it back. I have no idea if its susposted to be there or not, but if it looks odd, then its something wrong with the frame. You could always call the local look dealer and see what they think|

|Look on the bottom of the BB shell and see if there is a small hole. It sounds like the front der cable routing. My KG286 and 386 had the cable routing through the bottom of the frame|

|Sounds like about the same place the front derailleur cable comes up through the frame on this '03 KG486...|

|I just put a cable thru the hole and voila! Such a funky weird tiny hole that it looks as though it shouldn't be there(looks like some kind of mfg defect) and I didn't think it was big enough for a wire to go thru but you are right, it's the derailuer cable hole. It's a good thing that I don't have to go through returning to Total etc.
The hole on the bottom side look like it belongs there as a perfectly round hole(I thought it was a drain hole or something because it is so small.) Who woulda thunk? There is no such funky little hole ;-) on any of my other frames including another Look! But I shoulda known that Der cable has to get over that fat BB shell mass somehow. I was busy and didn't think it through.
I knew I'd get the answer here from one of you guys. Thanks. What a funky hole!

|When I bought my 286, I did the same thing. I saw this hole and thought I had a defective frame...
Please post a picture of the completed bike

|I have 3 going so it'll be a little while but then the Spring doesn't come around here for a while either. It's all timed perfectly so that I won't get the shakes looking for another cycling related fix.
BTW Mike at Total emailed me right away with his detailed explanation and a few pix showing the holes. He saids I definitely am not the only one to think that these holes are a little odd. Here I have to give Total another thumbs up.
