Attending a Spring Classic, suggestions?bluebiker

I'm going to be in Europe this Spring during the classics e.g. Paris-Roubiax, Tour of Flanders. I'd like to see one of the races live, such as getting out to a section of cobbles to watch the race come through. Has anyone done this, any suggestions to getting out on course etc.?

I can only speak of P-R.

Here's the low-down. P-R actually starts from Compiègne which is a 45 minute train ride north from Paris (Gare du Nord). Plan on getting there as early in the AM as you can, bring a bike. Have breakfast and ride around to the team hotels to watch the bikes get prepped, as the departure time approaches -- usually around 11:00, you'll get to see all of the pro's milling around and getting signed in. Catch the fast train to St. Quentin or Busigny and you have ~2-3 hrs to find a small village near the cobblestone sections where you can plop yourself down to watch the race on TV in the local café (the *only* way to watch the race IMHO) don't forget to go outside and watch the racers go by! and then back inside for a few more Flanders beers!

PS. If you need, I can get you schedules, etc as the time approaches.

Sounds good, thanks for the information. I won't have my bike with me for my Spring trip, but should still be able to get around.
