From "Along Came Polly" premiere last night in Los Angeles.

If this keeps up, will he finish in the top 10? Nah. It looks like five in a row is it.

The truth is that he trained hard Sunday with some friends and on his trips to LA he takes his assistant/wrench/bike guy and he trains with a follow car.

The team will also have a Solvang camp soon and then the team presentation. Maybe he won't win, I'm not convinced he will but he is training.

Ask Lance to ask his buddy Lyle Lovett to make a swing up to Kalamazoo Michigan to the State Theatre for a concert. Saw him a few years ago and it was fantastic.

Do nothing but train and win the TDF 6 times or lay around, drink beer and screw lots of hot chicks? Tough choice...
win the tourFez

Years from now, people will reflect on such an accomplishment like winning the Tour 6 times.

Years from now, no one will care how many hot chicks LA banged, including LA himself.

The only valid opinion here would be Teos. That being said, Lance isnt exactly a novice. Being the good buisiness man that he is, I'm sure he knows what he is doing. Besides, he doesn't get paid millions to lose. Despite the calculated risks of the TDF he has been the best prepped for the race has he not? Ye of little faith.

It's Lance. You can bet the TDF riders out there contending with Lance for GC are riding and eating and lifting and doing all kinds of power measurements BUT what info they have has not lead them to any victories. Even if they are on Duez doing tests.

It is peace of mind when someone has the information, the math and numbers they know they need to achieve. It allows for more specific structure and workouts of your regime. Time is better spent and there is no skepticism on what you might be doing wrong. Tyler Hamilton and Vino are the only people who really came close to acheiving that kind of progress quickly and it was due to assistance from other people and numbers but now both of their roles have changed. Ullrich always had the ability but apparently after last year still needs race tactics 101 =)

For example: If I had won the Asheville Hill TT in 20 minutes and acheived an average power and HR of 275 watts/184BPMs. Then I would know what to aim for next year and how to train for it. If it was Febr. and I tested my average power and HR doing a CP30 and aceived 250watts/176BPMs Id be in good shape for the Hill TT in June

Add this to the fact that Lance enjoy the PROCESS of training just as much as he likes the results. He's a research scientist who uses his body and the road as a lab.

Are you talking about Asheville, N.C.? If yes, can you give me the lowdown on that uphill TT, please? Can you remember the road names, distance, elevation, any other interesting facts. I'm too much of a chicken to do a normal road race, but how hurt could I get on a uphill TT? And there's the new Ghisallo....

If your in the area I'd be happy to show you the place myself. I can email you my SRM file on it since its one of my favorite rides and I do that hill ALOT! Its the hill I got run over by a car on by the way but I was going down it not up it :D

First of all, they do a terrific job on the set up, very safe. Its really laid back and professional. It starts right downtown in Asheville on a road called Town Mtn Road. The road itself leads to the parkway and is about 26 miles from the top of Mt Mitchell. the road is 6.5 miles long I think but the race is only 5.1. I big ring it the last 1.5 but its up hill and not easy.

It starts off steep so you get the hard part at the begining. There are two short straight aways to provide relief but I recommend you hammer them to make up time since everyone else wont. My SRM file can give you an idea of where it gets steep by looking at the speed and cadence and power spikes. If you'd like to check it out I can even ask some local female friends of mine to take you out on it easy. A good time for cat3 women would be 21-23 minutes. Anything under 21 and your in great shape! The record for pros is I think 16 something by Scott Moninger

If you'd like a list of uphill TTs in the South East let me know there are quite a few =D
How bout the list of time SE uphill Time Trials?timwat

What's a good time for cat 5 men?

Just a few off the top of my headCARBON110
Jan 13, 2004 2:04 PM
The SE race series and any that you may find on add races to the calander does

But just a few and anyone thinking of uphill TTs should think about any TTs period. The more you do the better youl get at them.

Beach Mtn all hill-fall
Asheville uphill-June
Mcminnville, uphill-March?
Sterling Tenn.rollong-April?
FBCC-may have an uphill but at least a rolling TT-July

There are 3 Stage races in NC with TTs, half the time you may just do the TT sometimes they require you pay for the whole race -nm-CARBON110

It's all an evil ploy to make the other guys think he's not training. Looks like he was going to get his heart rate up plenty after the screening by the look on her face.
