Better late than never...A summer ride report of SW VAbburgbiker
Jan 12, 2004 7:20 PM
I tried posting these pics earlier this year but had problems with the upload so now that I've got it worked out I hope you enjoy. A bit of summer riding pics in the dead of winter...

This ride rolls through the New River Valley of SW VA...starts in Blacksburg (Go Hokies), through Christiansburg -> Riner -> Greysontown -> Radford -> and then back though Cburg and home to Bburg. It ended up being about 66 mi and here is the profile...

A view from below the tallest span in Virginia. It's in the Ellet Valley just outside Blacksburg and is part of the SmartRoad, a corporative effort between VT and VDOT to test new road surfaces, signs, tires, and anything else you can think of dealing with travel safety. I actually has areas with the ability to simulate rain, fog, snow, hail, etc.

Finally up from the Ellet Valley and into Blacksburg. A great big school small town that has some of the best riding - road or mountain. And a very cycling friendly community as well.

The URLs you used for your photos are correct. But I think the ofoto.com server must have some mechanism to prevent their photos from showing up as inline images on a page from another site.

If viewers want to see the photos, right click on the blank image tile, and pick something like "image properties." Copy the image URL and paste it in a separate browser window. E.g., if you try to click on the link below to the first image, the server forbids you from accessing it, but you can copy-paste this URL and it works. Weird eh?

Next time, try uploading the photos to the roadbikereview server instead of a "photo album" service to get around these cheap games.

Nice photos by the way; you rode by the home I grew up in and my family's farmland, both out in the sticks on Mud Pike.

Now I'm in Seattle and though I love the PacNW, I do miss the 'Burg. I try to get back every now and again to catch a football game (and also see my family) and tool around the campus.
I was really looking forward to those pictures, any chance of a re-load?
