|I was attempting to order a Shimano rd and cassette this morning. Prices were okay, so I proceeded to checkout. Once I got to the shipping charges page, I saw this declaration:
"A product-specific surcharge has been added to the shipping charge(s) shown."
Regular shipping on an $85.00 order was $13.75. Two day Fedex shipping was $26.75!
What's up with this?

|I tried to place an order with Colorado Cyclist this morning. Shipping on the website was $24 for around $90 of merchandise. Whoa. Figuring I was saving a lot because the items were about half price I swallowed hard and hit the submit button and got an error message. I hit the back button and my order was gone. Crap. So I called them up, placed the same order and shipping was $7. What's up with that? Seems like there's a premium on shipping for web orders.|

|Don't even get me started on shipping to APO addresses. I am US military stationed in Chile and the US allows us to send/receive mail for US domestic mail charges. The US Government handles the transport from the US to the military post office overseas (one of the few benefits we still receive while serving overseas).
However, many companies who will offer "free shipping for orders over $xx" or other specials will not honor this for APO/FPO orders. ALL they have to do is mail it to an address in Miami (in my case) yet they charge me extra because they have to us USPS rather than UPS. And many of these sites are the same ones with "Remember 9-11" banners and the like.
