|Anyone heard that ONCE rode 650 wheels is some of the more mountainous stages? Can't seem to find any after reviewing a fair amount of the TDF 03. Just a rumor that I heard, wondering if its true.|

|Beloki has swapped bikes in the past to a 650c wheeled bike on the final climb.. but I don't think he did that last year on Alpe D'Huez but if you go thru the '01 and '02 tour photos for at Graham Watson's website, you'll see sometimes on the same stage he'll be riding two different bikes with a 700c wheel early and a 650 late.
Also, Jalabert did the same thing with CSC in 2001 (for the whole stages) He actually crashed on his 650c bike and had to switch to 700c bike that had some problems on Pla D'Adet. I don't think he did the same thing at ONCE but I don't know.

|In 2001, he was supposed to be on a custom LOOK with 650c wheels. I've searched all over the net for a picture but I've never found one. Cyclingnews.com had a picture that they said was the special 650c bike but the bike in the picture clearly had 700c wheels.|

|VeloNews had one - but they've taken the 2001 Tour Archives off the site. Lennard Zinn had a tech article about them.|
