I have two seemingly neophyte questions yet I have been unable to find the answers so it's up to you!

- Are all TCR frames the same or are there differences between the Team, 0, 1, and 2 models other than the components the're built up with. (and no I'm not talking about the goofy decal colors)

- Can the said decals be removed, thus rendering them not goofy?

Thank you all, and may your new year be blessed with car-less streets.
If you mean aluminum frames, then yesMcAndrus

The aluminum TCRs are identical frames and are differentiated by the components. It's the same as Trek and the 5200 and 5500 which differ only in components.

As to the decals - yes, they can be removed but I'm not the expert on that. I believe most people recommend soaking them with WD40 to loosen them but you might want to search the board for recommendations.

The decals on my TCR-1 are covered with a rich layer of clear-coat...making removal all but impossible.

All of the goofy safety stickers are easily done away with, tho.

The TCR 2 has an alloy steerer tube while the others are full carbon. The stickers on the seatstays come off as well as the size and warning stickers on the seat tube and down tube. Everything else is under the clearcoat.

Here are a few pictures of mine with all the stickers removed. THe wheels are my own Ksyrium SLs with the stickers removed.

If you are considering one of these I would highly recomend it. I swapped the Ultegra for the Dura Ace off my old bike but kept the carbon cranks. It's a medium and weighs in at 16.5 pounds on my digital postal scale. The finish is superb, hard to believe it's made in Taiwan.
I'll take some...DERICK

better pictures and do a review when I get a few more miles on it.
Some TCR 1's come w/DA 10-speed rear derailleurs?Tig

We've only received one TCR 1 so far and it came with the new 10-speed Dura Ace rear derailleur (still a 9-speed drive train though). The web site and books shows it to come with the Ultegra rear derailleur. What did yours come with?

I've ridden the TCR Composite enough to replace my Merckx frame with one soon. The compact geometry accelerates like a bullet, and the carbon provides a smooth ride. It still gives good road feedback and doesn't have that "wooden" feel that I hate so much from the OCLV's. Giant is the best bang for the buck, and then some.
Yeah, I was quite surprised to find...DERICK

a 10 speed DA on it. The LBS said they were all like that. Like I said earlier I swapped the Ultegra for my Dura Ace. I kept the new 10 speed derailleur though. I'll sell my DA unit with the Ultegra group and wheels on E-bay.

I have to agree with the TCR1 being the best bang for the buck. They didn't go cheap on anything. Nice full CF stem, Full carbon fork and seatpost, CF cranks, nice seat and they even through in pedals.

That bike looks nice with the decals. What is this guy's major malfunction that he wants to remove the decals on a well done beautiful bicycle. Man, I like your bike. I wish I had that type of money. OCR3 is in my price catagory though. Best of luck to you in 2004.
DERICK, a question..Dave Hickey

Did you add the decals to the cranks or did they come that way? It looks very nice.............

Came that way with the bike. They must have been made for the bike because the decals are under the clearcoat.

The rims look much better without the crummy stickers. I peeled mine off immediately after receiving the bike.

I've seen a 03 Giant CF frame with all decals removed except for one little decal that said "ONCE GIANT." It looked really nice. I believe that he said he wet sanded it down and then polished it to semi gloss finish.

A guy had an ONCE yellow and black frame he was trying to sell on eBay and he removed all the stickers. It looked crummy and never did sell, even after relisting a bunch of times with an ever lower opening bid.
I happen to like the stickers on my silver TCR frameset as they break up the single color a little bit.

Interesting. I definetely want one of those carbon TCRs but
I am highly unlikely to get one. Grrr......

This is mine shortly after its purchase. It's nice.
