Specialized Tri-Spoke - 8 yrs old - Safe ?scopestuff2

I'm considering purchasing an older pair of Specialized Carbon Tri-Spoke wheels. Carbon wheels of that age concern me as I don't know how advanced the technology was back then. Last think I want is a pair of wheels with a catastropic failure.

Any thoughts on the durability and lifetime of these wheels ?

Anything in particular to look for when examining ?

Thank you in advance !

These wheels are hell-for-stout, so as long as there are no signs of cracking in the composite, you're good to go. Recognize that the DuPont/Specialized wheels were not the lightest thing out there, but the aerodynamics are still among the best wheels ever. For general purposes, you should also make sure that the bearings are in decent shape. As long as the composite is not cracking, you have NOTHING to worry about in the safety department.
