Is Performace catalog's "Team Performance" worth membership??? I know that you need to spend a certain amount of money to make it worth while. However, are there ever any good deal's made exclusively to members or is that just hype?
if you spend more than $200/yr at perf then it's worth it..._rt_

if you think you're going to spend less than or right around $200 then it's not really worth the $20 to join.

the members' specials can be pretty good - especially on stuff like powerbars & endurox, but if you're on the $200 bubble the specials will not make membership worthwhile.

all that said, with my team P points i bought a wrenchforce pro workstand for something like $50 (plus my team p points), and got a set of egg beater mtb pedals for free.

the one really nice thing about team p membership is that you get automatic 2 day shipping (for the regular shipping price) on all your orders. so if you're like me and you forget to replenish your supply of endurox until you've already consumed the last scoopful you know you will only have to wait 48 hrs for your next fix. ;-)

tally up what you've spent at Perf over the last year (the amount might surprise you!) and see if it's worth it for you.

Yeah, you do have to spend a certain amount. One factor is whether you have a Performance retail location nearby. If you're going to pop in and buy drink mix, tubes, socks, etc and not pay shipping then it may be worth it.

I was a member for awhile, but my overall bike gear spending is down lately so paying $20 to rack up ten percent back isn't totally worth it for me. (Easier for me to use my SF Bike Coalition discount.)

I think if you're a member you get some deals, like e-mail coupons every now and then, or special sales open to "members only." The one sale I attended had a lot of clearance type stuff, and as others on this board have mentioned, it pays to be mindful of SRP for items to make sure you're getting the deal you think you are.
for me it's worth itColnagoFE

I have a local Performance and buy lots of stuff like tires, tubes, clothing and the like there. The "Team Performance" deals are suspect though. I can usually find as good or better just waiting for the sales. The free upgrade to 2nd day air shipping is nice if you order off the website.

I've been a member the past couple of years, but will let my membership lapse at the end of this year as I now order most of my stuff through my LBS.

If so, then it may be worth it to further explore Performance's policies and your upcoming cycling needs.

Otherwise, don't worry about it, shop the LBS... where good deals can also be had.

I spend way more than $200 there, so its definitely worth it to me. For every $100 you spend, they send a $10 gift certificate. They send out "members only" catalogues, but I'm not so sure all the items and prices there aren't available to everyone else as well. As far as the free upgrade to next day shipping, I never use it. I typically go to the store near my house and buy from them. If they have a store in your state, web sales are taxable.

The bottom line is pretty much how much you spend there. $200 is the dividing line between yes and no.

I renew mine when I know I'll be spending over 200 in the next year. If I dont think I'll spend that much I let my membership expire and then renew it when I need stuff.

I just re-joined again, because I knew I'd be spending more than $200.00 there this year.

Heck, most of us can spend that much on just Cytomax and/or Powerbars.

One aspect about Performance that I like is that they will match prices, so, if you find something you want at another on-line dealer, send them the link, and you get the same price, plus 10% in points to spend later. Not bad.
