Second place on both the Team Bike of the Year (CSC Cervelo) and Best New Product of the Year (FSA Carbon Compact) can be attributed solely to his Tour ride. IMHO, neither of these would have even been on the list without that ride.

The FSA cranks are an affordable alternative to somewhat pricey carbon offerings from Campagnolo, Stella Azzurra and others. Anyone riding Shimano and in the market for carbon cranks will certainly (have to)look at those.
It's the 'Compact' that Tyler put on the list, not FSA. (nm)TFerguson

The FSA Carbon Pro Compact cranks got second place in the cyclingnews poll. CC has them for $329.99. The new Record set will set you back $649.99, Chorus is still $489.99. Sounds like a good argument to me.
Both of your points....torquecal

They are cheaper than a lot of carbon alternatives, PLUS they use the 110BCD allowing the lower ranged gears without opting for a Triple.
Campy makes a compact crankset? (nm)TFerguson
