Don I bought a Talon (non SL) maybe 4 months ago. I logged about 3000 miles. I weight 215 pounds and I would say the Talon is very comfortable on long rides. The seatstays are short compared to my Trek 5200 so the steering is quicker. The Kestrel likes to carve through the corners. I would say both bikes are equal in comfort. With the components I have, it weights about 16 lbs. The quality of construction is better on the Talon than the 5200. The paint is smooth without any orange peel and the clear coat does not chip as easily as the 5200.

I got my 60 cm Talon in 11/01 and have 13k miles on it. I love the looks and I love the
ride, but it is not as smooth as my 2000 Litespeed Classic.
There are a few oddities about my Talon :
a. there are no downtube cable adjusters.
b. the shifer cable housings began to abrade the paint on the headtube and I had to
put tape there to stop it.
c. I have difficulty removing the rear wheel when my Pro Race tires are at 115 psi.
d. no owner's manual was provided to show torque specs, etc
