So what are everybodies plans for the next few days?

I'll be riding early tomorrow morning since I've got traveling to that in the afternoon. On X-mas day I'll just be doing an upper body workout on my physioball. Finally on the weekend some long rides (80+mile) rides.

Hopefully I'll have new gear to ride with. ;)
Will be riding in deep powder on my trusty snowboard (nm)hrv

We shutdown the shop from the 25th to the 5th, so I plan to get some climbing in, along with some of the group rides around here.

I'm supposed to play golf, too, but I have not picked up a club in over 10 years...I'll be a menace!

My Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law (both freaky) are coming to stay with me for a long weekend. Yeah, Merry F-in Christmas. Anybody want to ride. I'm willing to travel. :-)

I have Friday off and the temps seem to be on the rise. "cmgaugh" and I will be hitting some singletrack on Saturday.

The MiL, SiL, BiL and nephew are coming in town on Friday. I won't get out on Friday, but I will on Saturday. Snow, sleet, typhoon....I don't care. I will have to ride to maintain my sanity.

Its' been a tough month: from T-day until Christmas we've either traveled or had inlaws in the house 4 of 5 weekends. I want my house back!!! At least they bear presents. The inlaws hate buying me cycling stuff (since its' not "personal" enough), I do get several gift certificates to Colorado Cyclists. Yeah baby!!!

...and many loved ones, knowing my fondness for fruitcake, have innundated Maison Lardbutt with gifts of EXCELLENT Monestary Fuitcake. Baked by monks an abbey just outside of Berryville, Virginia, these bundles of edible joy dispell any stereotype that you may have about fruitcake being an unwelcome harbinger of the holidays. They rock.

I'll get some miles, but it's not a priority.

Last year I did a nice, long ride along one of my favorite routes on Christmas Eve. Usually there is little traffic and people "share the road." However, on Christmas Eve, I had more bad traffic experiences on that ride than on any ride I have done since then. Three separate cars almost nailed me in the vicinity of a country church (I think that they were late for the Children's Christmas Eve Service). One SUV with mom, dad and several perfect children rolled down the window and yelled a string of profanities (from Dad) at a stop sign. Another car, with a Christmas wreath on the grill, almost hit me on a shoulder when it was passing a car on the right (and was weaving back and forth as it went down the road). And there was more -- I have blocked out the rest. People are crazy (and sometimes drunk) near Christmas -- watch out!

Notwithstanding my experience last year, I plan to ride tomorrow (Christmas Eve) and on Christmas. My mother is visiting my sister in Minnesota and my in-laws are having "Chirstmas dinner" on Saturday when my brother-in-law and his family are coming to town. My wife, daughters and I plan to spend a family day at home on Christmas -- that means that I will have several hours to ride after we open presents and before we have our low-key Christmas diner (each of us is cooking one course -- mine is to grill some steaks). My good fortune with respect to riding on Chirstmas Eve and Christmas will not continue -- Saturday I will be celbrating pseudo Christmas with the in-laws and on Sunday I have to fly to Boston for a court hearing on Monday.

(and I don't see that happening) to hit my milage goal!

The weather has been nice for December and it looks like it will be mild the rest of the month. I'll be riding over the holidays but I am still going to be a couple hundred short of 8000 for the year. Of course, I could turn into a "Mrs MB1 Machine" and make a few 100+ mile rides just to hit. . . hmmm.

You folks have a nice Christmas!

Tradition is when everyone heads for the sofas after Christmas lunch for a nap I get on the winter gear and do 40-50 solo miles up the Blue Ridge mountains - Merry Christmas to me!!. Shouldn't be too bad, temps supposed to be in the 40's and sunny. I'll be good and hungry for the dinner!

Friday night I may go to spinning class, then Saturday it's off to Nashville for my 7 yo daughter's try at the cheerleading national championships. 7 hours each way in the car with Lizzie McGuire, Holes, SpyKids and whatever other DVD's make it into the car and captive at the Opryland Hotel - I see lots of "medication" to get through those days! Needless to say I'll be lucky if I see much exercise.

Back on Tuesday night, so I'm planning a long ride on Wednesday either by myself or with our local group depending on the weather. Maybe a new year's day ride too as I've done one for the last several years.

Then like JS Haiku it's time for the resolve for the new year...ugh.

Happy holidays to all...
Depends on when the snow falls....Cory

We have snow forecast Wednesday night into Thursday. My wife and kids are going over Donner Summit to see Grandma Wednesday morning, and I'm supposed to follow when I get off work. If that happens, no riding at all.
It's possible, though, that I'll get snowed in on the Reno side of the pass. I'll wage a valiant battle against the loneliness of a Christmas far from my loved ones for about two minutes, then go wherever I please on either my road or mountain bike until I feel like stopping, then come home and defrost some killer cioppino (bouillabaisse, to you Easterners) I made last week, eat about half a loaf of sourdough bread and go to bed early.

Since the college bowl games are now extended through the Monday following New Year's, I figure holiday celebrations will increase the number of drunk drivers from now through January 5th. I'll be keeping an extra eyeball (yeah, that freaky third one in the back of my head, heh heh) on any automobiles in my vicinity.

I'm getting a Jones to do a long dirt ride but this year has just been too wet and it is going to rain more tonight.

Likely three centuries since we are taking Friday off.

No work for me 'til Jan 5, so plenty of time, just depends on the weather. Dry roads mean rides, snow pack means gym time.
