I just checked Here in Dallas, we're gaining 1-2 minutes of sun light/day.:-) Our winters are so short anyway but it's nice to turn the corner...

Every day is longer. Every day is warmer. I always get a little pang of sadness June 22nd.

I agree. Even though it's colder in December, I know it only gets better after Dec 22nd.

..if your'e from Evanston than you have to know the bad stuff is just starting around here.I hope we get a mild winter like last year but you can never tell in Chicago.

Just kidding - IL. But did you know that James Evans also founded a town in SW Wyoming that bears his name?

Last year was so damn awful because the snow kept melting and turning the streets into a briny swamp. If it would just stay a nice steady 30F, it would be so much more pleasant.

BTW - where are you?

to your terrain. Do you do a lot of riding along the Fox River? My longest rides take me out to Bull Valley Rd. Much more undulations than around here.

Near Wise Rd.

Does anyone in Dallas rent a road bike? I'll be in town 2nd through the 4th. If the weather is ok (above 45 and dry) I need something to do on the 3rd to stay away from the stores with my wife.

I think either Richardson Bike Mart or Jack Johnson Bikes near Whiterock Lake rents bikes...
Agree w/ Dave on both those shopsinnergel

If you do make it to either of those places (they are essentially across the street from each other), then go have breakfast at Barbec's after your ride. This place is in no way a health food establishment, but they have the best beer biscuits in the city. I'll meet you for the ride and we can go eat breakfast!

I believe. How far away are those?

Barbec's sounds good. Loves me a good breakfast.

There is a Bicycles Plus in Snyder Plaza in HP/UP. Should be very close to where you are staying. It's just off Lover's Lane and Hillcrest. They are another really good shop that will probably have rentals available too.

The RBM and Jack Johnston's are on Garland Rd on the south end of White Rock Lake. It should take you 20 minutes or so to get there from HP/UP. Piece of cake to get there, or should I say piece of biscuit :-) (I can't find the website for Jack's.)

Let me check my sons hockey schedule. If you want some company, maybe we can ride. What size do you ride?
Dec 22, 2003 3:10 PM
depending on set up. I could probably ride a 54 and not be too uncomfortable.

I was sort of hoping to rent one so I could keep it all day. I'll be without a car (at least after I get dropped off at the shop).

I would love company from you or innergel or anyone else, though I'm pretty out of shape.

Are there any cx races? I'm hooked after J's smells like CX Sunday. Only kidding... I owe him a race report on the cx board (and some pics)...

We'll round up the other posters in the DFW area and make it a group ride. Maybe post a ride report.
Sounds good nmDave Hickey

the weather in DFW get progressively worse from Jan - Mar. Expect the wind and rain to steadily increase as the temp steadily decreases, with the occassional 78 degree perfect day thrown in just to get everyone sick :-)
