I've been around bikes for a while, and the only question that is plaguing me is the definition of the word velo. I've seen it everywhere, but I can't figure out what it means.
thanks

Veloce is french for swift or fast. And a name of a Campagnolo component group.

Velocipede is a combination of fast (velo) and feet (ped) and means bicycle in french, of that I am fairly sure of.
Veloce is Italian for "fast", not French. (nm)haystack

As far as I can tell, "le velo" and "la biciclette" are synonymous--the first being masculine, the second feminine.
