|I am shopping for the wheels for my new bike. It is a Debernardi frame (Not expensive or lightweight), so I am not looking to break the bank or get the lightest racing wheels. I am looking for something economical that will be durable for training. Don't want to spend much more than $300.00. Excell Sports can build Mavic open pros or CXP 33s for about $310.00.
I would like to build the wheels on Campy Chorus hubs as much of the rest of the bike will be from the Chorus groupo.
Appears that Mavic Open pros are very popular in this price range. Is there anything else out there I should focus on. Which is better Open pro or CSX. I am on the large side at 195lbs. I live in Japan and can't go to a LBS and talk wheels. I will also go with 32 or 36 holes as the roads near me are very rough. r, Fred

|At 195 I would go with the CXP 33s. I bought some back in August and have put about 2k on them with no problem. I downgraded from a lighter racing type wheel that spent a little to much time in my truing stand. For someone over 190, 36 back, 32 on the front; double butted 14/15s.|
