Pearl Izumi booties and new Shimano pedalskomatiite

So, i finally invested in a decent set of shoe covers, the PI AmFibs. problem is, the cleats for the new shimano pedals are nearly too big for the booties to cover. So, when i clip in and out a few times, the stitching gets abused and after riding only twice in them, there is a small tear on the fabric stitched around the rubber toe cap.

Anyone have any suggestions/remedies for this? I hate to pay $50 for booties that are gonna last a month.
Similiar problem but with the P.I. Calientoes...DINOSAUR

I've just worn them a couple of times, however I have Look pedals/cleats. They are made out of the same material as the Amfib's. Mine have not torn, but sometimes they get hung up when I go to unclip. I think in my case it might be because my cleats are worn down a bit. They don't make the cleat opening large enough. I've had better luck with stuff made out of neoprene material as you can trim the opening to make them larger. The downnside is they only last for about a season. I was thinking of trying a way to stretch them, hmmmmmmmm
